Integration of a ceramic pressure sensor

In space- and price-critical applications, the ceramic pressure sensor offers a compact and cost-effective solution for implementing pressure measurement which is embedded in the customer’s application. However, there are some details to consider when integrating the ceramic cell.
For example, each sensor must be measured and adjusted (see: “Integration of a pressure sensor element – error compensation of signal for zero point and span”). Furthermore, some details must also be considered in the mechanical integration of a ceramic sensor. A seal is made either axially or radially by means of an O-ring, which must develop its sealing effect via a set clamping force. This clamping force must be evenly distributed over the circumference of the sensor during the axial sealing and must not be too large, so that a distortion of the sensor and thus a faulty measurement is avoided. Clamping the sensor between solid bodies, i.e. without any sealing gap, must be avoided in all cases.
